The Opportunity
We're looking for a Software Engineer (Data Engineering) who is passionate about building scalable data pipelines and enabling reliable, high-quality data platforms. In this role, you'll contribute to the development of data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration workflows that power our AI-driven healthcare products.
You'll collaborate closely with software engineers, data scientists, AI researchers, and product teams to solve data engineering challenges while building reliable, maintainable, and scalable data solutions. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with data, cloud technologies, and modern data engineering tools.
What You'll Do
- Write, debug, and optimize backend code while continuously improving code quality and performance.
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services.
- Design data schemas, write efficient SQL queries, and ensure data integrity across backend systems.
- Implement security best practices, including encryption, authentication, authorization, and access control to protect sensitive user information.
- Collaborate closely with senior engineers to understand backend architecture, engineering standards, and development best practices.
- Collaborate with frontend teams to understand business requirements and design APIs and backend services that enable seamless frontend-backend interactions.
- Assist with Low-Level Designs (LLDs) for backend services and platform components.
- Develop and contribute to unit and integration tests for owned features, ensuring reliability and stability while following established testing frameworks and best practices.
- Troubleshoot production issues and improve backend system performance and observability.
- Create and maintain clear technical documentation for implemented features, including API specifications, code changes, and release notes, to support knowledge sharing and smooth onboarding.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 1–3 years of professional experience in backend engineering or a related software engineering role.
- Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
- Strong proficiency in Python as a primary backend programming language.
- Experience building RESTful APIs and backend services.
- Strong understanding of backend design principles, data modeling, and low-level class design.
- Hands-on experience with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Working knowledge of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB is a plus.
- Experience working in Linux/Unix environments with Git (Bitbucket) and JIRA in an Agile software development lifecycle.
- Basic understanding of system performance, debugging, logging, and backend security concepts, including authentication and authorization.
- Exposure to AWS or other cloud environments.
- Familiarity with Docker; Kubernetes experience is a plus.
- Basic understanding of unit testing.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to Golang.
- Experience designing scalable distributed backend systems.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
- Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
- Exposure to event-driven architectures and messaging technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus or Grafana.
- Exposure to AI/ML infrastructure, healthcare technology, or data-intensive applications.
- Contributions to open-source projects are a plus.
